Hello!  I'm David-Dorian Ross – you may have seen me in one of the many T'ai Chi dvd's I've made for Gaiam.  I have been teaching T'ai Chi Ch'uan for nearly 30 years, and I am America's T'ai Chi Champion.

“Yikes!” you're probably saying. “What's that supposed to mean?”

Well, on the one hand, I am seven-time US national gold medal winner in T'ai Chi performance, and I am also a two time World bronze medalist and silver medalist.  I've won more international honors in T'ai Chi competition than any American in history.  So from a performance, competition perspective, I am America's T'ai Chi Champion.

But the term “champion” also means to defend, to advocate, to fight for a cause. And for me, that cause is to inspire 1,000,000 people to Touch Their Qi – to make a connection with that magical life energy that dwells inside all of us.

I remember the first time I got in touch with my own qi 30 years ago in my first T'ai Chi class. It changed my life.  I felt the energy of life pulsing through my body.  I literally saw the world differently - colors were brighter and objects were sharper.  I could sense the life force in other people as well, and for the first time I really understood that we are all connected - to each other and to the world around us.  I knew in that moment my personal path and destiny: to practice T'ai Chi all my life, and to become a famous teacher.

I've been thinking about all the people in the world who have not yet had a moment like that. If I could give them that gift, then maybe that would make a difference in their lives like it did in mine.  Think of it - what would it be like if a million people tried T'ai Chi for the first time this year?  Think of how many of them might find something they've been searching for all their lives - a connection with the mystical, Spiritual energy of life itself. Wouldn't that be something?

The ways that Qi can change your life are too numerous to list – although I just finished writing a book called 15 Ways the Qi Can Change Your Life.   Let's just say that the mastery of Qi through the practice of T'ai Chi Ch'uan and Qigong is an amazing avenue of personal and communal transformation. I even think it may be one of the keys to world peace.
